EDWARD LUTTRELL OF KILCROW, CO. KILDARE

As I have collected information on the Luttrells of Courtwood and of Coolbanagher I have also found information about Luttrell that lived in Kilcrow, a few miles outside Athy. I have pursued this family line as our family lore has talk of a brother of my earliest known ancestors( John, William and Alexander) managing a farm at Devoys of Courtwood, (where Liam Carroll and family live) and who then went off to live in Athy. It is possible but unproven that this Edward may be that brother and so I have tied to follow this line up to modern day. Having done so and found a descendant, Joe Aldridge, in Athy I am still no wiser but will continue to follow this line.

We first found Edward in Griffiths valuation farming a few acres in Kilcrow in 1858 or so. Later we found records of a son Murtha born to him in 1821 in Sronschull, a townland adjacent to Kilcrow. We discovered that Murtha married an Ann Nowlan and had son Murtha jr in 1865 who was listed in the 1901 census living alone in Kilcrow and who according to local sources married Ettie late in life and had no family. Murtha senior remarried Julia Carthy from Barrowhouse in 1870 and Murthagh passed away prior to 1876 and Julia, listed as a widow in 1876, when she married William Gorman of Arles.
However it was not until I was able to access Athy parish records was it possible to start the family tree listed below. These records shown a marriage of a daughter of Murtha to George Aldridge in Athy and allowed us bring part of the fmaily line up to date.
I do beleive that there is a lot more to track down, such as the Donnelly connection, but also have reason to believe that there was another son of Edward, James who emigrated to New York and had family there. I will update this as I find new information.
